About this service

After Builders Cleaning in Hull

We offer after builders cleaning in Hull for homeowners, landlords, builders and small developers who need a property cleared of construction dust once the work is done. Whether it’s a new kitchen in a west Hull semi, a loft conversion in the Avenues or a full refurbishment of a city centre flat, we clean from ceiling to floor so the space is ready to live in, let or hand over.

Renovating Hull’s older housing

Much of Hull’s inner-city housing dates from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, and renovating it creates a particular kind of mess. Stripping back walls in an old terrace releases plaster and lime dust that drifts through every room, even with the doors taped up. Damp-proofing work, common in older properties this close to the Humber, often means hacking off plaster at skirting height and re-rendering, which leaves gritty residue on floors and inside cupboards. Knocking a front room and back room into one, a favourite project in the terraces off Hessle Road and Anlaby Road, spreads dust well beyond the room being worked on.

We use HEPA-filter vacuums and work from the top down: coving, light fittings and door tops first, then walls, radiators, skirting boards and finally floors. That order matters, because fine plaster dust keeps settling for days after the tools stop. Our guide to removing paint and plaster dust explains why a damp cloth on its own tends to smear it rather than lift it.

New kitchens, bathrooms and extensions

Kitchen and bathroom refits bring their own clean-up: protective film and sticker residue on new units, grout haze on fresh tiles, silicone smears on glass and paint flecks on sockets. Hull’s hard water then starts marking new taps and shower screens almost straight away, so we leave chrome and glass properly polished. For larger extensions in places like Sutton-on-Hull and the roads off Boothferry Road, we usually clean the whole house rather than just the new space, since building dust rarely stays where it was made.

Handover cleans for landlords and developers

Hull has a steady flow of conversion projects, from Victorian houses on Beverley Road being split into flats to former commercial buildings in the city centre and Old Town becoming apartments. We provide handover and sparkle cleans for these jobs, working to your completion date, cleaning inside every cupboard and window frame, and invoicing the developer or landlord directly. For landlords refreshing a rental between tenants, a builders clean straight after the decorators leave is often all the property needs before new listing photos are taken. If you’re not sure which level of clean you need, see what our after builders clean includes. We also take on new-build and extension work further west, with after builders cleaning in Brough.

Once the last trade has packed up, including flooring and decorating, send us a few photos or ask for a site visit and we’ll give you a fixed quote. Carpets left dusty after the work? Add carpet cleaning in Hull to the same booking. We work across every part of Hull, seven days a week. Contact us to arrange your builders clean.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

We’re living at home during a renovation. Can you clean in stages?

Yes. If your builder finishes one area at a time, such as a loft conversion before the kitchen, we can clean each phase as it completes so you can start using it. Most people then book one final whole-house clean once all the trades have left, because dust from later work drifts into rooms already done.

Can you clean after damp-proofing or replastering in an old terrace?

Yes. We remove the fine plaster and lime dust from floors, skirting boards, cupboards and window sills, and wipe down every surface. Heavy cement splashes and lumps of mortar aren’t part of the service, so ask your builder to clear those, along with any rubble, before we arrive.

Do you work for developers converting buildings into flats in Hull?

Yes. We clean individual flats or a whole building ahead of handover, sales photos or the first tenants, and fit around completion dates and snagging visits. We can invoice the developer, contractor or landlord directly and keep keys secure for the duration of the job.

Where do you park for jobs in the city centre or Old Town?

Many streets around the city centre and Old Town have pay-and-display or permit parking, and skips and contractor vans often take what space there is. Tell us what the arrangements are on site. If we have to pay to park, we include that cost in your quote so there are no surprises.
