About this service

Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning in Hull

We provide professional carpet and upholstery cleaning across Hull, from stair carpets in narrow Victorian terraces to sofas, armchairs and rugs in family homes, city centre flats and rented houses. Using hot water extraction, we lift the ground-in dirt, pet hair and spills that a household vacuum leaves behind, for homeowners, tenants and landlords in every HU postcode.

Hull homes and the carpets in them

The type of house makes a real difference to how a carpet wears. In the terraces off Hessle Road, Holderness Road and Newland Avenue, the front door often opens straight into the living room, so the first metre of carpet takes the brunt of wet shoes and grit, and a single steep flight of stairs carries the whole household up and down every day. In the larger Victorian and Edwardian houses of the Avenues and Garden Village, we see more stair runners, rugs laid over original boards and older wool carpets that need a gentler touch. On the newer estates around the northern edge of the city, pale carpets fitted by the developer tend to show grey traffic lanes within a couple of years.

We pre-treat the worst areas first, test fabrics and dyes before cleaning upholstery, and tell you honestly if a mark looks permanent before any work begins. Landlords with furnished flats in the city centre and around the Marina also book us to refresh sofas, bedroom carpets and hallway runners, and we can invoice the landlord or managing agent directly.

Drying times in a damp climate

Hull is low-lying and sits right on the Humber, and many older homes here already struggle with condensation through the colder months. That affects how quickly a freshly cleaned carpet dries. In summer most rooms are dry in four to six hours with a window open; in winter it helps to keep the heating on low and leave interior doors open so air can circulate. We’ll talk you through it on the day, and our guide on how long carpets take to dry explains what speeds it up and what slows it down.

Sofas, armchairs and pets

Upholstery is often the bigger job in Hull homes with dogs and cats. Fabric sofas soak up pet odour, food spills and the grubby patches where heads and arms rest. We check the care label, choose a low-moisture method suited to the fabric and pay extra attention to cushion edges and seams. If you’re unsure what your sofa can take, have a look at our sofa and upholstery cleaning guide first. Leather furniture is quoted separately.

Plenty of customers combine a carpet clean with a top-to-bottom refresh of the house; if that sounds like you, see our deep cleaning service in Hull. Living a little further north? We also offer carpet and upholstery cleaning in Beverley.

Tell us which rooms, stairs and pieces of furniture you’d like cleaned, plus any stains you’re worried about, and we’ll confirm a fixed price. Our cleaners are insured and DBS-checked, bring all their own equipment and work across Hull and its neighbourhoods seven days a week. Ask us for a carpet and upholstery cleaning quote.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can you clean carpets in a Hull terrace with no road access?

Yes. Many Hull terraces sit along a narrow footpath off the main road, so the van can’t always stop outside. Mention it when you book and we’ll plan for the extra distance. If there’s no free parking nearby, any parking charge is added to your quote at cost and agreed with you in advance.

Which parts of Hull do you cover for carpet cleaning?

All of HU1 to HU9, including the city centre, the Avenues, Newland Park, west Hull, Hessle Road, Holderness Road, Garden Village, Marfleet, Sutton-on-Hull, Bransholme, Orchard Park and Kingswood. We also clean carpets and upholstery in Hessle, Cottingham and Anlaby, just outside the city boundary.

Is winter a bad time to have carpets cleaned in an older Hull house?

Not at all, it just needs a little more airflow. Keep the heating on, open interior doors and, if you can, leave a window ajar for an hour or two after we finish. Older terraces with condensation problems can take longer to dry than a modern home, so avoid booking the day before guests arrive.

Can you clean rugs and stair runners on original wooden floors?

Yes. Period homes in the Avenues and Newland Park often have runners held by stair rods and rugs laid over varnished boards. We test the fibres first and control the amount of moisture we use, so water doesn’t soak through to the timber underneath or mark the surrounding floor.
